Allergic Rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, is a reaction to an allergen like dust, animals, pollen, grass etc. They symptoms are normally itchy eyes, palate or ears, runny nose and eyes, blocked nose and constant sneezing. These symptoms can be all year round like in the case of dust or seasonal.
A GP, pediatrician or ENT will look for typical signs like dark rings under the eyes, swollen pale turbinates in the nose etc. The treatment is medical and can consist of an anti-histamin and/ or nasal steroids. Allergy tests is not always necessary but if considered might consist of skin prick tests (this is for inhaled allergens) or blood tests.
