Eustachian Tube Problems
Common symptoms of dysfunctional eustachian tubes include fullness in the ear, feeling of ears being blocked or like you are under water, ears popping at random times and feeling like you actively have to open the ears the whole time. The ENT surgeon might send you for a specific test done by audiologists to confirm the dysfunction. Jaw problems can mimic the same symptoms, so do not be surprised if the ENT surgeon suggests a dentist visit or physiotherapy. Often, after an upper respiratory tract infection, eustachian tubes do not work as well as they should and this can take up to three months to recover.
