Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPY)

In each ear there are 3 semi circular canals angled at 90 degrees to one another. This plays an integral part in balance. If the crystals (otoliths) that are normally embedded in a gel like substance become free floating – it can lead to spinning sensation lasting seconds to minutes and brought on by head movement. The treatment is a repositioning manoeuvre that can be done by a trained GP or audiologists or any ENT surgeon.
